Kevin Cropped



As Director of Hearty Homes, Kevin began the company in 2012 and oversees the running of the business, working with his employees to ensure processes are constantly improving and we are evolving and growing to suit our client needs.

Kevin is Ballarat born & bred, working as a bricklayer with his father before commencing his own bricklaying business. This progressed to land and townhouse development prior to Hearty Homes. Kevin’s ambition is to do the best he can in life and not look back with regrets.

Assistant Director

Cindy is the other half of Hearty Homes.  In 2013 she took on the Accounts role making sure payments, claims and receipts are processed as well as being our Human Resources person.  She completed a tourism/business degree at university and has worked on project management and marketing in other fields.

She loves where she lives, close to everything needed for her family. Cindy & Kevin have travelled a lot with their three children and will continue to see unique parts of the world.  It’s rare that she has time to herself but loves a movie and going to the gym.

New Home Sales

Darren commenced with Hearty Homes in 2019 as a Supervisor and has recently undertaken a role as a member of our New Homes Sales team. His extensive experience in the industry includes cabinetmaking, shopfitting and supervising, along with owner/operator of renovation and retail businesses All this experience brings a great level of knowledge to the sales process and when choosing your new home.

Darren's hobbies include rally car racing, 4x4 off road driving, eating out and barbecues with friends.  Travelling is also on his agenda with many destinations around the world already discovered. Darren loves a challenge and is deeply passionate about every project he sets his mind to.

New Home Sales

Amarbir comes to us in 2020 with a background in construction management, hospitality and disability services.  He loves his role as a New Home Sales Consultant, it gives him the chance to meet the local community, share views and opinions about constructing a new home and coming to a good conclusion, along with improving ourselves. 

Originally from India he has studied and lived in Ballarat for 15 years and finds it a calming and lovely place to live.  He enjoys playing badminton, long walks, spending time with his children and his wife’s great cooking.  His favourite sports are football and cricket with Geelong the AFL team for him. Holidays in Brisbane with the great weather and good company is another favourite pastime.  Amarbir is happy to welcome you to our display homes or contact him to see how our team can offer your building dreams.

Client Consultant

Lesanne’s role as Client Consultant since February 2019 is to assist our clients with choosing everything exterior and interior for their new home.

With the experience of building and renovating six homes she is now fulfilling her passion in the building industry, following many roles in different industry sectors and a qualification in interior design. She has enjoyed the fun of family holidays seeing Australia and now has the overseas travel bug, especially cruising. She loves spending precious time with her husband, children, grand-daughters and friends.



Finance & Administration Officer

Karen has lived in Ballarat for four years and loves the people, the lake, restaurants and even the weather!  She has joined the Hearty Homes team in March 2021 as our finance & administration officer and we welcome the knowledge and experience she brings. Born in New Zealand and growing up on a farm, she loved working alongside her father training harness racing horses. 

Having worked for an international airline she has been fortunate to have travelled across the world, with her favourite spots apart from Australia and New Zealand being Europe.  She loves new adventures, supporting the Geelong Cats along with her son who was born in Geelong, and any type of cuisine as long as she doesn’t have to cook it.




Jordyn has joined Hearty Homes as our trainee receptionist.  She will be responsible for reception duties along with many administration aspects of the role.  Having just completed VCE she is new to the construction industry and we are happy to have her as part of our team.

Born in Ballarat she enjoys living here and hanging out with her dog and pet budgies, she loves carbonara and barracking for Carlton.  She’s lucky to have travelled parts of Australia, mainly Queensland, South Australia and NSW.

Administration Officer

Our Administration Officer Danielle originated from Portland and commenced with us in November 2017. With her knowledge and experience of customer service and working around Australia she assists with many tasks within the office as well as receptionist. 

Now a local to Ballarat with her husband she keeps busy with her out of town lifestyle and adventurous travels to different parts of the world including South America and Hong Kong. Her hobbies are horse riding and going to markets, with her favourites being AFL team Collingwood, Mexican food and Audi cars.




Nicole has been part of our Drafting team since early 2018, liaising with clients and our sales team to create new home designs.  Embracing defence family life, she currently works remotely from Northern NSW where she often boasts the weather is much better than Ballarat!  Nicole & her partner have two dogs, a golden retriever & labrador, who make for very cuddly office colleagues.

She has completed an Advanced Diploma of Building Design and desires to do further education in architecture and interior design in the future. Nicole loves binge watching the latest Netflix hit, taking their dogs to the local beach and exploring countries, travelling so far to Europe, Asia, USA and Mexico.  




Paul comes to us in 2021 with vast experience and knowledge in the truss and frame industry and will slot in nicely with our drafting team.  Born in Hamilton he has now lived in Ballarat for over 20 years. 

His qualifications include Diplomas in Business, and Management, Associate Diploma in Building Construction & Design, and currently studying an Advanced Diploma in Architectural Drafting.  Away from work he enjoys running, gym, sports, family time, his pet dogs, and travelling Australia. His favorite things are seafood, anything with a Ford badge, basketball and barracking for St Kilda.  Friends and family make him tick

Amanda Cropped



As our Estimator it’s always a busy day for Amanda. Her role since August 2016 entails creating bill of quantities, estimating material and labour requirements and placing orders for each build.

She has a wealth of experience in trade hardware and brings all that knowledge into her job. Weekends are best when she can head out for breakfast with friends to any of the great places Ballarat has to offer or heading off to concerts and V8 car racing. Planning lots of holidays, she is looking forward to going on a cruise with her two sons.

Phil is a great addition to our estimating department and will play a major part for our team in further developing our systems and BOQ’s. Born in Ararat he now lives as a local in Ballarat and loves his home. With many years working in building supplies, followed by an estimating role for the last six years after receiving relevant construction qualifications.

Away from work he enjoys relaxing with his wife, two daughters and pet staffi, as well as watching all sorts of sport, barracking for Essendon and KFC. Phil has enjoyed numerous trips to Queensland and one big trip to the USA.

Our On-Site Team

George Cropped



George has worked on projects with Kevin for many years including his own home.  His role as a Supervisor with Hearty Homes commenced in 2015. As a valued team member and respected by clients and the industry George is very thorough and always thinking of a better way to do things.

His motto is quality with a capital Q. He enjoys the tranquility of living just out of town with his wife and two sons. Camping on the river, four wheel driving, BBQ’s, bonfires and visiting family in Romania are his favourite pastimes.

Matt was raised in Horsham enjoying the farming life. Now classing himself as a Ballarat local, Matt now still takes every opportunity possible to head back to the farm.  Coming from carpentry and supervisory roles Matt joined Hearty Homes in May 2018 as a site supervisor with the experience to assist you through the building processes. 

His hobbies are all sports, camping and hunting, and barracking for the mighty Tigers. He loves his 8 year Border Collie named Mia and has travelled Australia and Fiji. One thing that frustrates him though is people being late, so best to be on time when meeting up with him.

Chris Cropped



Born and bred in Ballarat, Chris has joined our team in construction supervising. This enables him to enjoy the fast paced environment and solve problems before they become an issue. Knowing the client will love their home is what he finds most rewarding.

He has worked locally in the industry for some time and prior to that applied carpentry on multi story hotels and island resorts in sunny Queensland. A Geelong fan, he loves to fire up the Weber and cook a feast on weekends and spend time with his three children. He heads off to Bali whenever he can for a relaxing holiday.

We are happy to have Cal join us at Hearty Homes with a background in carpentry and construction site supervising. His experience and knowledge is a a great benefit to our team. Born in Scotland and moving to Ballarat at the age of 16 he has now made this regional town his home.  His hobbies include gym/fitness, cinema, reading and golf, and he’s also an Essendon supporter. 

His love of travel has taken him to Europe including the UK and Scandinavia, the US and Indonesia, and in 2018 he enjoyed travelling with his wife for six months. Keep a look out for Cal as he takes on his role as site supervisor, possibly on your next home.
